The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has imposed a suspension on Sri Lankan cricketer Dasun Shanaka because he selected the Indian Premier League instead of the Pakistan Super League according to Mohsin Naqvi who heads the PCB. The organization imposed a two-year suspension on Zimbabwe fast bowler Blessing Muzarabani which they announced before this decision. The reports state that PCB has banned Dasun Shanaka from the PSL for one year while Blessing Muzarabani faces a two-year suspension. Shanaka withdrew from the PSL because he wanted to participate in the IPL with Rajasthan Royals for the 2026 season. The Rajasthan Royals acquired Shanaka to take the place of injured England player Sam Curran who had a groin injury. After Shanaka chose to skip PSL 2026, Lahore Qalandars signed Australian all-rounder Daniel Sams as his replacement. The Pakistan Cricket Board released a clear statement explaining its decision against the Sri Lankan all-rounder. The PCB official note stated that the organization took disciplinary action after examining the contract between Shanaka and Lahore Qalandars. PCB shared in an official statement on their website.“Following a comprehensive review of the recent contractual developments involving Dasun Shanaka and the Lahore Qalandars, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has issued its final determination regarding the player’s eligibility for future editions of the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL).” The statement further quotes “The review concluded that the player’s unilateral withdrawal from the tournament on March 21, 2026, constituted a clear breach of both the Player Registration terms and the Tripartite Agreement. The findings indicated that the withdrawal was made on grounds not recognized within the existing contractual framework.” Also Read | Mumbai Indians Break Losing Streak, jump to 7th; GT Remain Unchanged at 6th The board determined that Shanaka violated both Player Registration rules and the Tripartite Agreement because he withdrew from the 2026 Pakistan Super League without permission.
