Former Pakistani cricketer Basit Ali has seriously slammed Mohsin Naqvi, the chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) after the latter suffered a humiliating defeat at the hands of Bangladesh, a defeat that put fans seriously concerned about the fate of cricket in their country. Basit Ali feels Mohsin Naqvi came with tall promises of redeeming Pakistani cricket, but now he thinks that all his promises are just empty words. According to him, Naqvi has not been able to solve the problems within the team, which has resulted in a lack of interest in the game. Basit also named some well-known cricketers from India like Ravichandran Ashwin and Sourav Ganguly who have said that Pakistani cricket has gone downhill in international cricket. He stated, "Mohsin Naqvi, please open your eyes. You say that you will fix Pakistan's cricket, but it cannot happen like this. It is the bitter truth. People criticize me when I speak about Yasir Shah. Ravichandran Ashwin has said the same thing, expressing surprise over the dearth of spinners in Pakistan. I may be wrong, but is Ashwin also wrong? Even Sourav Ganguly spoke about how Pakistan cricket has deteriorated. The promises made to fix Pakistan's cricket are nothing but gimmicks." The recent comments from Basit Ali shows that fans and even former players are very frustrated with how badly Pakistani cricket is doing. Since the poor performances of the team have never lived up to expectations. Major changes are now being suggested by many. Ali urges the PCB chairman to take immediate and strict action and there are sentiments that big reforms are needed to bring back Pakistan cricket at its best.
