Former Pakistan skipper and former Prime Minister Imran Khan has launched a sarcastic attack on Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi and Army Chief Asim Munir after India's double success over Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2025. According to his sister Aleema Khan, brother Imran joked that Naqvi and Munir should open the batting if Pakistan were to defeat India. He also suggested that former Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa and Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja be given the role of umpires, with Islamabad High Court Chief Justice Sarfaraz Dogar as the third umpire. "The only way Pakistan can beat India is if Naqvi and Munir open the batting," Aleema disclosed, citing what her brother said. Wasim Akram Hails India's Supremacy Imran's statement follows cricket great Wasim Akram expressing admiration for India for consistently dominating Pakistan in the last four to five years. According to Akram, it was "painful to see" that Pakistan was struggling while India demonstrated depth and talent in all departments. In post-match show, Wasim Akram said: "It is tough to watch Pakistan. I understand, as an ex-player, that winning and losing are part of the game. But again, India outplayed Pakistan in every department over the last four or five years." But from 91 in the first 10 overs, when we fail to reach 200, there is nothing to say." Pakistan Faces Political and Cricketing Turmoil The snide comments also come against the backdrop of continuing controversies surrounding the PCB. Naqvi was shaken following India's refusal to greet Pakistan players with handshakes in protest at the Pahalgam attack. The PCB asked the ICC to take action and even threatened to boycott the Asia Cup. All this notwithstanding, India kept overpowering on the field. Reports also showed that Naqvi reportedly ordered players to convey political messages on the field, with fast bowler Haris Rauf resorting to gestures to taunt India, referring to unsubstantiated reports of military operations. Imran Khan's remarks emphasize the outrage and absurdity of Pakistani cricket, as former players and officials publicly criticized management after consecutive defeats to India.
