Mohsin Khan, former Pakistan cricketer, sparked controversy with his remarks on Indian star Virat Kohli. While speaking to ARY News, he claimed that Kohli is "nothing" compared to Babar Azam. His bold statement came after Pakistan's disastrous Champions Trophy 2025 campaign, where they were eliminated without a single win. Despite Babar Azam’s poor form in the tournament, Mohsin stood by him, calling him a far superior player to Kohli. He dismissed Kohli’s impact and instead focused on the issues within Pakistan cricket. He blamed Pakistan’s downfall on poor planning, lack of merit, and absence of accountability. He said, “First of all, let me tell you one thing. Virat Kohli is nothing compared to Babar Azam. Virat Kohli zero hai Babar Azam ke saamne . We are not talking here about who is a better player and we are talking about Pakistan cricket which has been destroyed. There is no planning, no strategies, no merit, and there is no accountability at all. There is no accountability.” Pakistan’s campaign was a major disappointment, with Babar struggling to make an impact. He managed only 64 runs in the opening match against New Zealand but took 90 balls to get there in a tough chase. Against India, he scored just 23 runs, while Kohli dominated with a match-winning century. Despite this, Mohsin defended Babar and slammed the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for mismanagement. Reports suggest that big names like Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf, and Naseem Shah might face the axe. Many experts believe Pakistan cricket needs a complete overhaul to recover from this setback. Head coach Aaqib Javed, who has been under immense pressure, has stated that he does not want to resign. However, sources indicate that the PCB might remove him from his position. The team’s poor results have led to growing criticism from fans and former players alike. While Mohsin Khan’s comments on Kohli created headlines, the real concern for Pakistan remains their declining cricketing standards. If strong decisions are not taken, the team risks further setbacks in upcoming tournaments.
