Muhammed Siraj has the ability to spearhead a fast-bowling contingent but has always found the consistency factor to evade him in T20. Be it the IPL or T20I games, he has a tendency to bleed runs while others take the limelight. In the Indian team, Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, and Mohammed Shami rule. Now, Kagiso Rabada has got the limelight in IPL 2025 for GT. Another night to forget for Siraj was during the GT-PBKS encounter on Tuesday, where he returned unimpressive figures of 54 runs in four overs without claiming a wicket. For a bowler of Siraj's stature and experience, going for over 13.50 runs is unacceptable. His lack of wickets and excessive travelling to runs are becoming an apt description of his IPL season. During the last season for RCB, he just managed 15 wickets in 14 matches with an average of 33 and an economy of 9.18. On the basis of this record, GT's investment of ₹12.25 crore in him has raised some eyebrows. Even bowlers who have trouble with the consistency of their games like Harshal Patel do better in wickets and economy at stat time. The game, however, goes beyond Mohit Sharma's DC strike rate of 17.2 and Harshal Patel's SRH strike rate of 15.9. While dropping Siraj might not be wholly on the cards for GT, they should consider using experience in Ishant Sharma, if only to give him the chance to compete healthily for a place in the XI.
