Mohammed Siraj's playful tease to Rahmat Shah makes for a moment of mirth during India-Afghanistan Test One of the highlight moments on Day 3 of the one-off Test match between India and Afghanistan in Mullanpur involved a short albeit entertaining, exchange between Mohammed Siraj and Rahmat Shah. The said interaction occurred during the 53rd over of the Afghanistan first innings. India pacer Siraj, known for his aggressive style on the cricket field, appeared to be engaging in some friendly banter with Rahmat Shah, who was at the crease at that moment looking to steady the ship for his side. During the over Siraj seemed to be teasing Rahmat by bowling the ball rather gently towards him as the Afghanistan batter was busy defending. It was a gesture that caught the eye immediately. However, Rahmat chose not to engage in a similar kind of reaction. He seemed to acknowledge the gesture with a laugh. Even Afghanistan head coach Richard Pybus was seen reacting in the dressing room to the hilarious episode that unfolded. Rahmat Shah was eventually dismissed by debutant spinner Manav Suthar, who was the pick of the lot for the Indians. The right-hander had compiled a fluent 60 featuring nine boundaries and one six, and was the last flicker of hope for the Afghanistan batting lineup. Spinner Suthar was a revelation with the ball and claimed a magnificent spell of 6/33, bowling out Afghanistan for a paltry 152 in their first innings. Paceman Siraj, despite being energetic on the field, went wicketless in the first innings, returning with figures of 0/29 from his nine overs. Earlier, India had declared their first innings at a massive 564/8, after winning the toss and batting first. Captain Shubman Gill and KL Rahul had scored centuries for the hosts with Sai Sudharsan and Rishabh Pant chipping in with handy 81s. Mohammad Saleem Safi was the only bowler to have enjoyed any success for the visitors in the first innings, claiming six wickets. Considering India had achieved a massive lead of over 400 runs, the team had decided to enforce the follow-on on the Afghanistan batting lineup. Prasidh Krishna and Washington Sundar had also claimed three and one wicket respectively with the ball in the first innings. As the Afghanistan openers Sediqullah Atal and Abdul Malik returned to the crease for their second dig at the Indian bowlers Manav Suthar was handed the new ball for his sensational spell of six wickets in the previous innings. With a mountain to climb, it is up to the Afghanistan batters to defy the Indian bowlers to prevent a humiliating defeat in the one-off Test while a moment of laughter shared by two rivals offered a little spark to the proceedings.
