Mohammed Siraj brought his A-game to the Gujarat Titans, crumbling the Royal Challengers Bengaluru's batting line-up with full commitment. India's cricketing legend, Virender Sehwag, felt that Siraj had a point to prove here. Having donned RCB colors from 2018 to 2024, Siraj, in his bright GT kit, produced one of the classiest spells in IPL history, taking 3 wickets for only 19 runs in 4 overs. Siraj's furious spell saw the dismissals of Devdutt Padikkal and Phil Salt, thus, nailing down GT's grip on the game just after Arshad Khan had dismissed Virat Kohli for a low score. Siraj made sure that RCB's top scorer, Liam Livingstone, could make no further mayhem as he returned for his final over. Siraj's drive was born out of being sidelined for the Champions Trophy, with Sehwag adding that Siraj felt wronged being omitted and harbored similar sentiments after Jasprit Bumrah was ruled out. Harshit Rana was chosen over Siraj for that tour. Sehwag said to Cricbuzz: “He (Siraj) maintained his record with the new ball in Chinnaswamy. He gave away only 12 or 13 runs in the first three overs. He could’ve probably bowled the fourth over at the same time, too, he might have taken another wicket. He swings the new ball, and yesterday, he also got help from the wicket. He has that fire. And somewhere I feel he is hurt that he wasn’t part of the Champions Trophy squad, and I saw that fire. That’s what we expect from a young fast bowler. ‘Yeah, you didn’t pick me? Now I will show you.’ I hope he continues with the same intensity and makes a comeback in the Indian team.” A roller-coaster of emotions in the Comm Box!Watch #NavjotSidhu's animated reaction after #MohammedSiraj dismissed #PhilSalt after conceding a six!Watch LIVE action ➡ https://t.co/GDqHMbeZGY#IPLonJiostar 👉🏻 #RCBvGT | LIVE NOW on Star Sports 1, Star Sports 1 Hindi &… pic.twitter.com/6bsY6c8BXY — Star Sports (@StarSportsIndia) April 2, 2025 Also Read: 'It was emotional': Siraj on his return to Chinnaswamy Stadium Siraj was awarded the Player of the Match for his magical bowling. Siraj confessed to being all emotional while playing again at Chinnaswamy Stadium. Mohammed Siraj commented: “I was a little emotional, because I played here for seven years in the red jersey. Now it’s a different colour. I was a little nervous and a little emotional, too. But as soon as I got the ball in my hand, I was full on.” Although he had been part of Kohli's RCB squad for nearly a decade now, he was released last year after having taken 83 wickets for the franchise. By auction, he grabbed by the Gujarat Titans for ₹12.25 crore in November.
