Indian bowler Mohammed Shami recently disclosed that during his lean patch, he used to think of taking his own life, but he got rid of those thoughts by keeping in mind how much cricket had blessed him. In July 2025, the Calcutta High Court ordered Shami to pay a total monthly maintenance of INR 4 lakh to his estranged wife Hasin Jahan and their daughter. Out of this, Jahan was meant to get INR 1.5 lakh a month, while their daughter was entitled to INR 2.5 lakh a month. Jahan, a former model, and Shami got married in 2014, and their daughter was born in 2015. They went their separate ways in 2018 when Jahan alleged domestic violence from Shami. Shami was questioned regarding the derogatory posts targeting him on social media after allegations of domestic violence. He acknowledged that he had been intimidated by the statements being made against him on the net. Here is what Shami said in the episode Aap Ki Adalat with Rajat Sharma "Socha zaroor, par hua nahin, yeh shukr hai varna World Cup miss ho jata mere se, kyunki jab wo thought aaya tha mere dimaag mein ki yeh time hai life ke end ka, jis cheez ke liye mujhe itna naam diya, jis cheez ke liye media mere pichhe hai, usko chhod ke is jump ke chakkar mein...Woh thought, woh pyaar yaad aayin. Socha chalo isko chhodo, chalo game me lagte hain phir,” In 2018, Jahan submitted a petition in the Alipore Court, complaining about the harassment from Shami and his family. She requested INR 7 lakh per month from the Bengal cricketer as a compensation to meet the expenses of maintenance of the family. Shami was last spotted in competitive cricket on May 2, 2025, playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the IPL. It was a forgettable performance for the pacer as he remained wicketless and gave away 48 runs in three overs to the Gujarat Titans (GT). "Bad things are spoken about, but nowadays those things are spoken about which do not exist. I am most scared of that. Yesterday, I was looking at a photograph, and I didn't know when I had taken it. The number of allegations that have been levelled against me in the last 6-7 years, maybe even a terrorist would not have been levelled so many allegations. I cannot do anything about this,” Shami said. Overall, he could take only six wickets in nine games in the IPL 2025 season. Since the ICC Champions Trophy in March 2025, Shami has not been seen playing for the Indian team.
