Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced the appointment of experienced coach Mohammad Salahuddin as the new assistant coach of the Bangladesh men’s cricket team on a short-term basis. Previously, he served as both an assistant coach and fielding coach for the Tigers over the past decade. BCB president Faruque Ahmed hopes this appointment will open doors for more local coaches to step into key positions in the future. As quoted by the ICC, Faruque said: "When I took over as BCB president, I made a commitment to provide opportunities for deserving candidates to contribute to the national team set-up." Faruque praised Salahuddin, emphasizing his vast experience and deep knowledge that makes him an ideal choice for the role of assistant coach. He further said: "Salahuddin brings with him a wealth of experience, pedigree, and knowledge, making him the ideal candidate for this role. I firmly believe it is time to integrate more capable Bangladeshi coaches into the system." Mohammad Salahuddin is set to take on the position of senior assistant coach, working alongside current head coach Phil Simmons. Their upcoming assignment will be during Bangladesh's tour of the West Indies, which will feature two Tests, three ODIs, and three T20Is. At present, Bangladesh is competing in a three-match ODI series against Afghanistan in Sharjah, starting from November 6. The second and third ODI matches will be played at the same venue on November 9 and 11 respectively.
