Mohammad Rizwan has full authority after stepping into the role of Pakistan’s white-ball captain, with a challenging limited-overs tour of Australia looming next month. Addressing the recent issue around Fakhar Zaman’s exclusion from the PCB's central contract list, announced on October 27, Rizwan commented on the limitations a captain faces, saying, "There are decisions beyond one’s control." Fakhar’s absence from the contract list has sparked conversation, highlighting the complexities Rizwan will navigate in his new leadership role. He also hoped that the issues around Fakhar’s situation would soon be resolved. As quoted by India Today, Rizwan said: “There’s no question about Fakhar’s impact, he is an influential player who can change the game single-handedly on any conditions. While some decisions are beyond my control, we have discussed his potential return and hope the matter will soon be resolved." Pakistan has brought in Jason Gillespie as their white-ball coach for the upcoming tour of Australia. This move comes after Gary Kirsten stepped down from his coaching role just ahead of the series. Gillespie, a former Australian fast bowler, has been serving as the head coach for Pakistan's red-ball team since April. When questioned about Pakistan's search for a new head coach for the white-ball team, Rizwan affirmed that the squad is prepared to collaborate with whoever steps into the position. He said: “When you’re playing for country then you’re beyond individuals. Our focus is always on playing for Pakistan, not on individual positions. Whoever is chosen as head coach, we will work together to achieve our goals."
