Pakistan cricket team captain Mohammad Rizwan hinted different internal rifts ahead of the T20 series against South Africa, as Fakhar Zaman has been dropped- said that he is ill. However, it was earlier predicted that illness had nothing to do with Zaman's ommision but a post on X. A day ahead of the first T20I against South Africa, Rizwan clarified that there was nothing personal against Zaman and that his illness had led to his exclusion from the team. He said, “I think the whole of Pakistan knows Fakhar Zaman, and there’s nothing personal about him that makes anyone feel like he’s being treated unfairly. I don’t think anyone knows that he’s unwell, basically. It’s not only a fitness issue, meaning it’s not like he failed a fitness test. From what I personally know, he’s unwell with something like a viral fever. Because of this illness, he’s been advised to participate in the ongoing T20 tournament in Pakistan." Regarding that, Zaman had criticized the Pakistan Cricket Board's decision, which did not go well with PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi.
