Former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif believes that the IPL will continue to change its rules as long as MS Dhoni will be playing. In the latest development, the Governing Council of IPL released new player rules for the 2025 season. Another big change is the return of the uncapped players rule. As a matter of fact, any Indian cricketer who hasn't played international cricket in the last five years is thought to be an uncapped player. That would surely help CSK retain MS Dhoni without breaking the bank. Kaif, sharing his eagerness to watch Dhoni play again stated that the IPL will go on changing its rules just to let Dhoni play as long as he wants. Kaif told Star Sports, "You will get the chance to see MS Dhoni again. He is fit, batting at a strike rate of 200, keeping well, and that is why I believe the rules will keep changing till he wants to play. If he wants to play in the IPL, he will play. He is such a big player, such a big match-winner, and has been a leader for CSK," Also Read | 'Usne Aag Lagayi Team Mei': Ex-Cricketer on Virat Kohli’s Captaincy Kaif praised the governing council’s decision and said that Dhoni’s influence is so strong that it can make anyone change their rules. He further added, "I believe the rule has been changed rightly. I believe if he is fit and playing well, why not, change the rule and let him play. Everyone knows the rule has been changed for Dhoni sahab, and why not, you will want to change the rule for a player like Dhoni," Last season, Dhoni played really well, scoring 161 runs in 11 innings with a strike rate of 220.54, hitting 14 fours and 13 sixes. Chennai Super Kings (CSK), the five-time IPL champions, can retain their former captain MS Dhoni as an uncapped player if they wish to. Though Dhoni hasn't spoken much about his future, a change in this rule is definitely in favour of CSK.
