Australian star Mitchell Starc has praised India stand-in skipper Jasprit Bumrah following day 1 of the first Border-Gavaskar Test. He called Bumrah a "fantastic" bowler across all formats of the game. India got all out for just 150 runs at the end of day 1 of the Perth Test, whereas Australia stood at 67 for 7 wickets down. Leading the bowling attack, Bumrah, the pacer picked up four wickets while giving just 17 runs in his ten overs with an economy rate of 1.70. At the press conference after stumps on day 1, Starc lauded Bumrah for his skills and termed his skills as a show to watch. Here is what Starc said at the post-day press conference "So, there's no surprise that he's been a fantastic bowler across the formats for a long time. And again, his skills were on show today as to how, how good he is. So, yeah, I'm sure there's something in that release point. That's significant to his action. It's something a lot of people can't do, so I'm not, I'm certainly not going to go and try it. I'll probably snap," India went down to early wickets, but knocks of Nitish Kumar Reddy, KL Rahul, and Rishabh Pant ensured 150 on board in the first innings of day 1 of the first Border Gavaskar Trophy.
