Mitchell Marsh, the hard-hitting allrounder of Australia, has been ruled out of the Champions Trophy 2025 due to his back injury. The selection committee of Australia will soon announce his replacement for the upcoming ICC event that is about to commence in the third week of the next month. The 33-year-old, who has an injury prone career, complained about back pain during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and hence, to avoid any further deterioration, his workload was managed by reduced by bowling loads. However, things worsened in ahead of the final Test at Sydney and this forced the committee to replace Marsh with Beau Webster in the last Test. During his rehabilitation programme, Marsh's condition deteriorated further, and he wasn't recovering well which forced the National Selection Panel (NSP) to pull him out of the Australia's Champions Trophy 2025 squad. CA stated: "The National Selection Panel and Australian men's medical team ruled Marsh out of the tournament with the injury which has not responded sufficiently to rehabilitation." The release included: "His lower back pain flared in recent weeks leading the NSP to make the longer-term decision for Marsh to complete a more extended period of rehabilitation. Marsh will now undergo a period of further rest and rehabilitation as part of his return to play plan."
