Australian allrounder Mitchell Marsh is set to resume his bowling in the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024. In order to prepare for the bowling challenges due to the absence of Cameron Green who was ruled out of a back stress fracture, Marsh will take charge. Mitch Marsh is set to increase his bowling workload during Western Australia’s Sheffield Shield match starting this Sunday. Marsh's fitness concerns have got a greater significance for the Australian team, especially with the news that Green will be out for the whole season due to a back stress fracture. The Australian chief selector, George Bailey suggested this week that Australia is unlikely to bring in another bowling option alongside Marsh, leaning instead toward choosing a specialist opener for the five-Test series against India, starting November 22. Earlier, Marsh didn't bowl during WA's draw with Queensland in last week's Shield opener, but he's set to bowl a few overs in their upcoming match against Tasmania at the WACA Ground, starting this Sunday. Marsh said: "I won't bowl too much for WA, it's all part of the building process to get ready for that first Test. I've been really well looked after by Cricket Australia, Ronnie [Australia coach Andrew McDonald] and Patty [Pat Cummins], with our planning and when I bowl. I love bowling, so I'm looking forward to bowling for Western Australia this week and build from there."
