Australian captain Mitchell Marsh has confirmed that star all-rounder Glenn Maxwell will be back for the fourth match of the series after a five-wicket loss to India in the third T20I at Hobart. India's victory came on the back of Arshdeep Singh's brilliant three-wicket spell and Washington Sundar's quick 49, which helped them chase down 187 runs comfortably. Maxwell's Return Boosts Australia ahead of 4th T20I Maxwell, who sustained a fractured wrist during a net session last month, had been recovering and doing light training. He was expected to feature in the third T20I but was rested as a precaution. The 37-year-old, one of Australia's most impactful T20 players, will now make his comeback in the fourth T20I in Queensland on November 6. After the match, Marsh said: "Hopefully he’ll be fit and available for Thursday. He’s such an experienced T20 campaigner - we’d love to have him back." Australia surely missed the all-round abilities of Maxwell in Hobart. While other options are available, his explosive batting along with very handy bowling makes him an irreplaceable figure in the side. With the T20 World Cup scheduled next year, his presence and experience, especially in the Indian conditions, will be very vital for the preparation of the team. India, though, chased strongly, with the quickfire knock of Sundar, to seal the win with nine balls remaining. Marsh admitted his team was slightly short of runs saying: “We were probably 20 runs short. Credit to India - they bowled really well. We gave it our best in the field, but they deserved the win. (Learnings from having to bat first) We just needed those extra 20 runs. I liked the intent from our batters, especially Tim David, who came in after early wickets and played superbly. Stoinis too showed great experience at the end. In T20s, small margins one or two good overs or bad overs - can change everything. He (Maxwell) was close (to playing) today but not quite ready." The fourth T20I, hence, becomes a must-win game for Australia if they want to get back into the series.
