Rajat Patidar, the captain for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), has been fined for a slow over-rate offence during the team’s clash against Mumbai Indians in Match 21 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 at the Wankhede Stadium. According to an official IPL media advisory statement, Patidar was fined INR 12 lakhs after RCB failed to maintain the required over-rate during the game. This is the team’s first offence of the season under Article 2.2 of the IPL Code of Conduct. The statement read: “Royal Challengers Bengaluru Captain Rajat Patidar has been fined after his team maintained a slow over-rate during Match No. 21 of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium. As this was his team’s first offence of the season under Article 2.2 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct, which pertains to minimum over-rate offences, Patidar was fined INR 12 lakhs.” Before Rajat Patidar, Hardik Pandya of Mumbai Indians, Riyan Parag of Rajasthan Royals and Rishabh Pant of Lucknow Super Giants were all fined for over-rate in the Indian Premier League 2025. RCB stay perfect on the road Despite the slow-over offence, RCB were almost flawless during their game on Monday. The three-time finalists put on a massive 221 on board, thanks to Virat Kohli's 67 off 42, followed by Rajat Patidar's 64 off 32 and Jitesh Sharma's unbeaten 40 off 19. Pandya grabbed three wickets in the final over of the match to seal the victory for RCB. MI fell 12 runs short of the target. This is their fourth loss of the season. Meanwhile, this is RCB's third away win of the IPL 2025. The team's only loss came against the Gujarat Titans at home. RCB, who are currently in the third spot with three wins and a loss, will travel back to Bengaluru next, where they will host Delhi Capitals on April 10.
