MI retained five key players ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction. The retained players were Hardik Pandya, Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, and Tilak Varma. The Mumbai Indians had a purse of ₹45 crore going into the auction to be held on Sunday, November 24, in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. On the opening day of the auction, five-time champions added four players to their kitty. They had to wait nearly five hours before being able to sign one player. New Zealand fast bowler Trent Boult was brought back for a whopping ₹12.50 crore. Later they re-signed Punjab's hard-hitting batter Naman Dhir for ₹5.25 crore. MI released some quality players like Nehal Wadhera and Akash Madhwal, who played key roles in the previous IPL editions. It recalled the experienced leg-spinner Karn Sharma, who had won the IPL title for MI in 2017 for ₹50 lakh. The fourth recruit that MI made on Day 1 was Robin Minz, at ₹65 lakh, who is a power-packed wicketkeeper-batsman from Jharkhand, often spoken of in the same breath as Chris Gayle, in the strength of his hitting. The cost, however, was ₹65 lakh. On the second day of the auction, MI began with South African wicketkeeper-batter Ryan Rickelton for his base price of ₹1 crore. The next buy, strengthening their bowling attack, came through the addition of experienced pacer Deepak Chahar for ₹9.25 crore and mystery spinner Allah Ghazanfar for ₹4.80 crore. They also added a fierce all-round talent to their batting lineup by securing the hard-hitting batter Will Jacks from England for ₹5.25 crore.
