The India vs Bangladesh white-ball series, scheduled for August, faces an indefinite delay as the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) turns its full attention to the upcoming T20I series against Pakistan. While no formal cancellation has been announced, the absence of India in BCB’s revised media rights tender signals a clear shift in priority — one that is raising eyebrows in Indian cricket circles. Initially, BCB planned to auction its global media rights for a two-year cycle (July 2025–June 2027), which included the lucrative India series. However, the technical bidding process, scheduled for July 7, has been quietly deferred, and the board has now limited the rights sale exclusively to the Pakistan series from July 17 to 25. An Indian broadcaster confirmed Cricbuzz, “They have informed us there is no India series. They are selling, for now, only for the Pakistan series.” This unexpected redirection has sparked speculation, especially as India vs Bangladesh fixtures typically generate massive revenue. The ITT (Invitation to Tender) document, originally slated for release between June 15 and July 6, has not been issued either. A BCB official, when contacted, said, “We are taking time to study the market. There's no point rushing. For now, only the Pakistan series is under sale.” Read also: Shere Bangla National Stadium - Cricket Ground in Dhaka, Bangladesh Why the Delay? Pakistan Series Gets the Spotlight as India Left Waiting The diplomatic undertone is hard to miss. The BCCI has yet to confirm India’s availability for the August window, and a BCB source admitted, “The date for the India series hasn’t been fixed yet. They [BCCI] said it’s difficult for them to come in August.” While neither board has issued an official statement, a joint clarification is expected soon. Meanwhile, the optics in Dhaka are clear — Pakistan's series is being pushed to the forefront. Bangladesh media coverage and administrative decisions suggest that the Pakistan series has taken precedence, despite India’s traditional financial pull. BCB’s tender has also been restructured to allow regional bidding, but the urgency is only for the Pakistan games. A BCB official put it bluntly: “We asked to sell the rights for only the Pakistan series. We don’t have time for the rest.” Tentative Schedule for India tour of Bangladesh Match Date Ground IST Time 1st ODI Aug 17, Sun Shere Bangla National Stadium, Dhaka 9:30 AM 2nd ODI Aug 20, Wed Shere Bangla National Stadium, Dhaka 9:30 AM 3rd ODI Aug 23, Sat Bir Sreshtho Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium, Chattogram 9:30 AM 1st T20I Aug 26, Tue Bir Sreshtho Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium, Chattogram 5:30 PM 2nd T20I Aug 29, Fri Shere Bangla National Stadium, Dhaka 5:30 PM 3rd T20I Aug 31, Sun Shere Bangla National Stadium, Dhaka 5:30 PM
