Lots of criticisms are going on regarding Virat Kohli's drought in runs, and now former Asutralian pacer Glenn McGrath has got him a new tag, "emotional player." McGrath, in a recent interview with Daniel Cherny from CODE Sports, highlighted Kohli's sensitive nature. He feels that a dip in runs for a few matches will force Kohli to continue doing that, as the later can't fight his emotions. In the interview, McGrath said, “If they go hard at him, if he gets in the fight with emotions, there’s a bit of chat out there, who knows he might sort of lift,” McGrath added. “But I think he’s probably under pressure a little bit, and if he has a couple of low scores to start with, he could really feel it." Kohli's emotions can get him to top once he will start getting runs, McGrath feels. He added, “I think he’s quite an emotional player. When he’s up, he’s up, and when he’s down, he sort of struggles a little bit.” McGrath acknowledges India's pressure India has traveled to Australia after facing a disappointing 0-3 historic whitewash in the home test series against New Zealand. When 3-2 could have secured a series win in the Border Gavaskar Trophy, India have to target a 4-1 win for a WTC final spot. McGrath added, “Without a doubt, especially after coming off a 3-0 loss against New Zealand, you’ve got plenty of ammunition to back yourself up. So put the pressure on them and see if they’re up for it.” Kohli has struggled in 2024, scoring under 100 runs in the series loss to New Zealand and averaging 22.72 in 6 matches this year. India will play the first Test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy at Peth's Optus Stadium on November 22.
