The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has officially announced that a stand at the iconic Wankhede Stadium will be named after India’s captain Rohit Sharma. The decision was finalised during the MCA’s 86th Annual General Meeting (AGM) held on April 15, marking a significant gesture towards honouring the contributions of Mumbai’s cricketing legends. Rohit, who has led India to major white-ball titles in the last year, including the T20 World Cup and the ICC Champions Trophy, will now join an elite group of Indian cricket icons with stands named after them at the Wankhede. The Divecha Pavilion Level 3 will be known as the "Rohit Sharma Stand." Alongside Rohit, the MCA has also decided to rename two other prominent stands. The Grand Stand Level 3 will be named after former BCCI president Sharad Pawar, while the Grand Stand Level 4 will honour the late Ajit Wadekar, a stalwart of Indian cricket.
