India and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) pacer Mayank Yadav has resumed bowling at the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru. The young speedster, recovering from an injury that ruled him out of India’s T20I series against South Africa in November 2024, is now in the final phase of rehabilitation. Despite his progress, LSG is in no rush. The franchise, which retained him for INR 11 crore, remains cautious about his return timeline. The 22-year-old’s ability to clock speeds north of 150 kmph makes him a prized asset, but his history of injuries demands careful management. In a recent Instagram story, Mayank was seen bowling at reduced intensity, focusing on rhythm and control. The session, monitored by specialists, hints at his nearing match readiness. Sports Tak reports that he is bowling well in the nets, but the final nod rests with the medical team at the Centre of Excellence. Until then, LSG can only wait. π¨π¨:Mayank yadav on Instagram π₯π₯He has started bowling practice before the start of IPL, he is expected to join LSG camp on April 11. pic.twitter.com/Q4Q7B7FA6y — ABHI (@AbhishekICT) March 17, 2025 Read also: Shafali Verma takes hattrick in domestic match after WPL final loss Return Window Still Uncertain If cleared, Mayank is expected to rejoin the squad by April 11 or 12. That means he will miss at least seven games of IPL 2025. His electrifying performances in IPL 2024, including back-to-back Player of the Match awards against Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru, proved his potential. But injuries cut short his campaign to just four matches. LSG’s management remains firm on prioritizing his long-term fitness over immediate gains. Mentor Zaheer Khan has emphasized that the team will only field Mayank when he is "150% fit." With a formidable pace attack comprising Akash Deep, Avesh Khan, Mohsin Khan, Shamar Joseph, Akash Singh, and Prince Yadav, LSG has the luxury to be patient. Mayank’s return will be closely watched, not just by his franchise but by Indian cricket as well. The upcoming season presents another opportunity for the tearaway quick to establish himself—provided his body holds up. For now, the countdown to his clearance continues.
