Earlier in the Sheffield Shield season, he tried his hand at medium pace, trying his hands to fill in for the injured Cameron Green. Marnus Labuschagne was also spotted bowling bouncers to the Australian skipper Pat Cummins in the nets. Reflecting on his efforts, he shared that his body feels strong and capable of handling the additional workload. In a pre-match press conference, Marnus said: “I think I have bowled 28 overs of pace in a Shield game and my workload was zero before then. So, many would say that’s a big spike. But good, my body is pretty durable. Touch wood, pretty durable. It’s something I have done from a young age. I have always bowled pace. I would love nothing more to be that guy. But we have got to convince the Australian captain of that, so we will see. But yeah, there’s nothing more enjoyable than bowling bouncers. I love it.” Talking about Marnus’ bowling skills then, he has taken 13 wickets in the 50 Test matches he has played so far. He would be eager to increase his numbers further in the upcoming BGT.
