Indian star batter Virat Kohli has been going through a rough patch in his international career. He’s been dismissed several times by both finger and wrist spinners while attempting to defend. Now, as Kohli prepares for the upcoming Australia’s red-ball tour, Marnus Labuschagne reflected on his first encounter with the "intense" Kohli back in 2018. Labuschagne also noted that Kohli’s batting seems to have lost a bit of the spark that defined him during that earlier series. In a conversation with Star Sports, Marnus said: "My first memory of Virat was probably, from a playing perspective, the 2018 series. He was captain at that time, I think, and he was quite intense. When I watched the series, it was a very intense series. I probably haven't seen that same Virat since then, you know, the start of that series. For a long time, he's just been a quality act, but my first memory would be that." Virat Kohli’s recent form has started raising concerns among fans and the team’s strategists. His current batting technique against spin seems to be showing some weaknesses, which could pose challenges in the upcoming matches. As India eyes for a spot in the World Test Championship (WTC) 2025 final, Kohli’s performance during the Australia tour will be the deciding factor. As the most experienced batsman in the squad, his form could be the difference between India retaining the Border-Gavaskar Trophy or losing it.
