Ambati Rayudu did not have any reservations on the sudden dismissal of Marcus Stoinis at a crucial juncture while Punjab Kings were facing Royal Challengers Bengaluru at New Chandigarh on April 20, Sunday; their duel in the IPL 2025. Stoinis came in to the seventh spot in the batting order but could only manage one run from the two balls he faced before clean-bowled by a slow googly from Suyash Sharma that utterly beat his bat, crashing into the stumps. The situation for PBKS was dire at that stage-114/6, 13.5 overs gone. It was not just Stoinis who was the victim of Suyash's sharp spin; Josh Inglis was sent back for 29 as well in the same over. This double whammy put even more pressure on Punjab's innings, and they managed a mediocre total of 157/6 in the end. Stoinis has been under the scanner throughout and hasn't proved worth his weight in gold. Being part of a tension-filled bidding war, PBKS bagged him for INR 11 crore during the OPL 2025 mega auction, ahead of CSK and RCB. Things took a different turn in the last match against Kolkata Knight Riders when PBKS made the last-minute decision to leave him out. Pictures of an evidently forlorn Stoinis, who was being comforted by coach Ricky Ponting, went viral in no time. Ambati Rayudu reflected on the continuous war of the 35-year-old alleging that PBKS' negative environment could be affecting the players' performances. He gave an example of Stoinis being low in confidence while Yuzvendra Chahal has been another player who has been out of form this season. Rayudu bluntly suggested that by sending Stoinis too low in the batting order, the PBKS management only added more pressure on him. It seems that Rayudu is hinting Stoinis doesn't quite agree with management over his role in the team. Ambati Rayudu said on Star Sports: “I think they are just not getting the balance right in terms of their intent, and also, no doubt, Krunal and Suyash bowled really well. But you would expect someone like Stoinis to pick a googly after all these years in international cricket. But that is something you don’t see often with top cricketers missing googlies. Maybe he is really not in the zone. Maybe he is upset with something that is going on in the team, or with himself, or with his batting position.” Also Read | 'He Looks Something Special': Sanju Samson on 13YO Suryavanshi The match was mentioned in terms of a smooth all-rounder victory for the RCB team against the Punjab Kings by seven wickets at Mullanpur. The victory would have not only helped settle for the loss at the hands of Punjab earlier in the season but also propelled RCB to the third position on the IPL 2025 points table. After opting to bowl first, RCB bowlers kept it tight and did not let PBKS get on with it. Middle overs proved crucial, with spinners Krunal Pandya (2/25) and Suyash Sharma (2/26) picking up vital wickets to restrict Punjab to 157/6. Virat Kohli, in the chase, led the charge scoring 73 not out from 54 balls, including his 59th IPL fifty. He ensured that RCB crossed the finishing line with seven balls to spare and registered a comprehensive win against PBKS.
