Manoj Tiwary has recently opened up about his controversial sacking from the Indian national cricket team over a decade ago. Manoj Tiwary said that his confidence was 'crushed' at the peak of his cricketing career, placing the blame on then Team India captain MS Dhoni and the BCCI selection committee for the situation. Manoj Tiwary made his debut for India in 2008 during the first ODI against Australia in Brisbane. It wasn't until his sixth ODI in 2011 that he scored his maiden international century, an unbeaten 104 against West Indies in Chennai. However, despite this impressive performance, he was dropped from the team for the next match and had to wait another eight months before playing for India again. In a recent interview with Cricket Addictor, Manoj Tiwary expressed that being dropped from the Indian team during the height of his career remains a source of pain. He said: "See, it happened a long time ago. It's a matter of the past, but yes, dukh to hota hi hai (It was sad). I would lie if I said it wasn't saddening. What can we do? It’s life, but it needs to move forward. If I am to write my autobiography or I do a podcast of my own, I will reveal it all. But it wasn't easy. When a player is at his peak, when his confidence is crushed, it causes a change in mindset." In 2023, Manoj Tiwary officially announced his retirement from all formats of the game.
