Malaysian all-rounder Virandeep Singh, aged 26, created a historic record in the 4th match of the T20 World Cup East Asia Pacific Qualifier 2025 against Qatar. The other Malaysian batters failed, and the team scored a mere 123-9 in 20 overs. Qatar's openers powered the chase confidently. Zubair Ali shone with 65* off 44 balls, including two fours and five sixes. There was good support from Mirza Mohammed Baig with 35* off 19 balls, and Qatar powered to 124 in 17.1 overs at the cost of just two wickets. On the bowling side, Malaysia experienced minimal effect, with Khizar Hayat and Virandeep Singh being the sole bowlers to claim a wicket. The rest of the bowling attack could not keep the Qatar batters under control.
