Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia's son Mahanaryaman Scindia was unanimously elected as new Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association (MPCA) president on Monday, an official said. The 29-year-old vice-president of the Gwalior Division Cricket Association (GDCA) is now the youngest president of the MPCA, established in 1957. He is also the third generation from the Scindia royal lineage to head the state cricket association. Unanimous Elections and New Executive All the posts in the election were unopposed, according to Rohit Pandit, chief administrative officer of MPCA, who said this in a statement to PTI. Pandit added: "The newly elected executive will be formally ratified during the annual general meeting on Tuesday, after which office-bearers will assume charge." Sandhya Agarwal, Prasoon Kanamdikar, Rajiv Risodkar, and Vijesh Rana have been co-opted as members on the committee, while the cricket committee consists of Pradeep Banerjee, Ramnik Patel, and Abhay Laghate. Outgoing president Abhilash Khandekar was optimistic about the new leadership, stating, "In the last six years, the MPCA has garnered several milestones. I hope the newly elected executive under Mahanaryaman Scindia's leadership will take the association to new heights." Royal Legacy in Cricket Administration Mahanaryaman began his cricket administration journey in 2022 when he became a life MPCA member and also became vice-president of GDCA. He is also the president of the Madhya Pradesh T20 League (MPL), which began in Gwalior in 2024. The Scindia family has been heavily engaged in cricket administration in Madhya Pradesh for decades. Mahanaryaman's grandfather, late Madhavrao Scindia, and his father, Jyotiraditya Scindia, were both presidents of the MPCA. In 2010, Jyotiraditya Scindia beat State Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya by 70 votes in a highly contested election, and his faction captured all important executive positions. But after Lodha Committee suggestions, Jyotiraditya and veteran administrator Sanjay Jagdale resigned in January 2017 after serving nine years on the managing committee, rendering them ineligible for reappointment.
