Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) are going to bid adieu to mentor Zaheer Khan before the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL) season, based on a report by Times of India. According to a source in the know, "LSG is set to part ways with Zaheer Khan and the new mentor will be given a bigger role to monitor RPSG Group’s other franchises." It is known that LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka, who is now in the UK for The Hundred, will in due course of time appoint a Director of Cricket. This individual will look after year-round development not only for LSG, but also for RPSG's other franchises, Super Giants from Durban in the SA20 and Manchester Originals in The Hundred. Zaheer joined LSG in 2024 as Gautam Gambhir's replacement after he resigned following IPL 2023. The ex-India fast bowler also filled the void left by bowling coach after Morne Morkel parted ways, as Morkel joined Gambhir and the Indian men's national cricket team. Zaheer previously served with the Mumbai Indians from 2018 to 2022 as Director of Cricket before acting as head of global development. LSG has invested in a young, talented, and dynamic group of Indian fast bowlers, Akash Deep, Avesh Khan, Mayank Yadav, Prince Yadav, Mohsin Khan, and Akash Singh, and I see immense potential in each of them. My mission is to help shape them into a cohesive, fearless, and tactically sharp pace unit that can challenge the best batting line-ups in the world."
