Lucknow Supergiants is likely to sign the Indian speedster Shardul Thakur as a replacement for the injured Mohsin Khan. Even though no official announcements are made, different sources are indicating likewise, especially after Shardul was seen training in the LSG nets. Reports have also suggested that Shardul will be taking the flight with the Rishabh Pant-led squad to Vishakhapatnam for their first match, against the Delhi Capitals. Shardul Thakur, who himself was out from competitive cricket for a long time due to injury, went unsold in the 2025 IPL Mega Auction. Not only that, he was not given a chance to tour Australia in the Border Gavaskar Trophy despite a stellar show in the last tour. However, with Shardul joining LSG, he will be leading the LSG pace camp, having assistance from the young pacers like Prince Yadav and the Under-19 World Cup winner Rajvardhan Hangargekar. Unfortunately, all of them are struggling with injuries. Speaking about Mohsin Khan, he is sidelined from cricket due to an ACL injury. When he started bowling in the LSG nets, he succumbed to a calf injury. The other three core bowlers of Lucknow— Avesh Khan, Akash Deep, and the young Mayank Yadav— are all struggling with injuries. Avesh is still working on his knee injury recovery and hasn't connected with the squad. Meanwhile, Akash Deep and Mayank Yadav had been in the Board of Control for Cricket in India's (BCCI) Centre of Excellence (CoE). Akash had succumbed to a back injury during the Border Gavaskar Trophy, for which he could not play the final Test in Sydeny. He also missed the remainder of the Ranji Trophy and hit straight to recovery. On the other hand, the 22-year-old Mayank Yadav has been suffering from pain almost everywhere. Starting with a side strain, he suffered from a hamstring issue on the left side and is experiencing the same on the right side. He has been out of competitive cricket since October, and is gradually starting bowling at reduced intensity. But, optimum fitness is far from reached.
