The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) are off to a flying start in their IPL 2026 journey as they thrashed the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in a high-scoring encounter at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. Chasing a challenging 202 runs to win the match, the RCB chased down the runs with ease with the help of a high-octane batting show. Earlier, the Sunrisers Hyderabad scored 201/9 in their 20 overs with the help of a scintillating knock by Ishan Kishan. Ishan Kishan scored a stunning 80 runs off 38 runs, hitting eight fours and five sixes in an entertaining knock. Heinrich Klaasen also scored runs as he scored 31 runs for the team. Aniket Verma scored 43 runs off just 18 runs before getting dismissed quickly. From the Royal Challengers Bengaluru side, Jacob Duffy and Romario Shepherd were the best bowlers as they took 3 wickets each for their team. Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Suyash Sharma took 1 wicket each for their team. Powerplay Performance Puts RCB in Command RCB began the chase in fine fashion. They did lose Phil Salt early on for a paltry 8 who was caught brilliantly by Heinrich Klaasen off the bowling of Jaydev Unadkat, but Devdutt Padikkal and Virat Kohli then took the reins. The pair built a magnificent 101-run partnership for the second wicket, with Padikkal going berserk with a brutal 61 off just 26 balls, including seven fours and four sixes. Patidar hammered a brisk 31 off just 12 deliveries, clobbering two fours and three sixes. Kohli stayed till the end and played a composed knock of 69* off 38 balls with the help of seven fours and four sixes, guiding his team home without any further scares. RCB reached the target in 15.4 overs, showing everyone why they are the defending champions. SRH pacers struggle David Payne bagged two wicekts, while Harsh Dubey and Jaydev Unadkat chipped in with 1 wicket apiece, but the SRH bowlers simply could not get a grip on the game. It was an all-round batting performance by the RCB which got them over the line, and their dominant Powerplay innings set them up perfectly to win the match.
