KL Rahul batted with grit in the just concluded Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. One of the few Indian batters who were described as technically sound against Australia by former cricketers, when the others were struggling. Subsequently, after a gruelling five-match Test series, Rahul relinquished ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024-25 as his home team, Karnataka reached knock-out stages. Rahul was in great form with the bat against Australia as he scored 276 runs in 10 innings at an average of 30.67. He was supposed to join the Indian team for the white ball series that would take place against England. Barring a break, NDTV Sports reported that the batter has taken off, that too of the white ball series. A BCCI source, however, confirmed that the right-handed batter will be available for the selection for Champions Trophy 2025. “He has sought a break for the England series, but he will be available for selection for Champions Trophy," the source said. The three-match ODI leg will be preceded after the end of five T20Is and the first ODI will take place on February 6 at Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur. Reports indicate that Mohammed Shami will be back for the England series. The pacer hasn't played for India since India played against Australia in the World Cup 2023 final, when he sustained an ankle injury. Swelling in his ankle has also stopped him from playing for India since then, though he appeared in a few home games for Bengal.
