When KL Rahul debuted in Test for India in 2014, it was a very special and nervous moment for him and it was none other than the wife of his teammate Virat Kohli and the Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma, who played a crucial role in those days to calm him down. His first Test came during the 2014/15 Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Melbourne. Though the game ended in a draw, Rahul found it tough because he managed to score just three and one in both innings. Such a start has discouraged him. He shared this incident in a talk show with Renil Abraham six years ago that Anushka Sharma was quite supportive during that phase of life, helping him lift his spirits. Rahul stated, "Both of them (Anushka and Virat) have been very good to me and I have a great story to tell you. Anushka was there to watch the Melbourne match. She could see that I was down and dejected (with personal performance) while my thoughts were all over. Anushka came to my room and told me she isn't going to let me sit alone and think about cricket and added that she and Virat are going to take me out," This gesture led to KL Rahul joining Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma on one of their dinner dates. During these dinners, the couple shared their own experiences with failure, helping Rahul understand that he wasn’t alone in facing setbacks. Virat and Anushka continued to support Rahul throughout the week-long break before the next Test match, leaving a lasting impact on him. He added, "I third-wheeled on one of the dinner dates. Both Virat and Anushka shared their stories describing moments when they had endured failure in their careers. That made me feel like I wasn't the only one who ruined his first impression. We had a week's break before the next game and they took me out every time with them. They are a powerful couple and have had a great influence on me as a couple," He further added, "It was nice of Anushka to do it as I didn't know how she could understand what I was going through. We still stay in touch and exchange a few messages, although Anushka's are about my dog mostly," This was followed by a scintillating comeback by Rahul with a sharp 110 in the first innings during the next Test at Sydney. Ever since then, he has gone on to have a highly successful Test career, playing 50 matches for India and amassing a total runs of 2,863.
