KL Rahul's availability for Delhi Capitals' IPL 2025 season opener remains uncertain, according to DC captain Axar Patel. Ahead of their season opener, Axar Patel was asked about KL Rahul's availability for the initial games. The all-rounder said they are currently unsure and will have to wait. "Obviously, he joined the team and we all know that he has a personal problem. So, we don't know yet. So, if he comes back, we ask him if he is okay and we'll let you know tomorrow morning. I think we've got to know and so, now we don't know if he is available or not," he said. Earlier, Australian women's team captain Alyssa Healy mentioned that KL Rahul would be missing the initial games of the league due to the birth of his first child. However, there has been no official confirmation regarding his availability yet. Over the past 17 years, the team has undergone numerous transitions, and for IPL 2025, the management has appointed Axar Patel as their new captain, with Faf du Plessis as his deputy. Speaking about his captaincy, Axar said, "I am very confident about the Delhi Capitals team. I have been playing for Delhi Capitals since 2019 and have grown as a cricketer in this franchise. It's an honour for me to lead this franchise and we have many leaders in our team. So from them, I get that experience and they are there for me. Faf is there, KL is there, and many experienced players are there. So we have a well-balanced team. And we will change the results this time." Patel further added that the team is prepared to play fearless cricket in the upcoming season. "Our mindset is to go out there, express ourselves, be fearless, and give our 100%. The players are really enjoying the atmosphere here in the DC family. We are ready to roll," he said. DC will meet LSG in their IPL 2025 season opener. Rishabh Pant, who led DC in the last season, has been appointed as the LSG captain. Whereas, former LSG captain KL Rahul will turn up for DC this year.
