KL Rahul was totally the go-to guy to take over for Rohit Sharma as India’s Test captain, right? But surprise, surprise, the people who make the big decisions had other ideas. So, after Rohit called it quits from Tests, like, out of the blue before playing against England, the BCCI is now looking to make Shubman Gill the new captain for Test matches. We should hear for sure if it’s happening on May 23rd or 24th. Apparently, PTI is saying that Rahul got passed over because, I mean, he’s already 33, which is kind of old in cricket years. And even though he killed it at the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, his game has been up and down like a yo-yo. The selectors think maybe he’s not the best pick to lead the team for a super long time because he’s not consistent enough. The report stated: “It is understood that KL Rahul isn’t being considered as an option, as he is already 33 plus, and consistency has been an issue with the Bengaluru player even though he was one of the better performers in Australia.” Rahul has been the captain for India in three big Test games, and they won two of those. Everyone thinks he'll keep playing a big part in the team, but it's like super unlikely that he'll get to be the captain again.
