With the Border Gavaskar Trophy knocking on the door, BCCI has asked both KL Rahul and Dhruv Jurel to travel to Australia for the second "unofficial Test" between India A vs Australia A at MCG, scheduled on 7th November. The main aim is to grant them some playing time ahead of the first Test at Perth on November 22. The management of the Indian Men's Team wants to grant equal opportunities to all the players, even to the ones on the bench. As per the board, both Rahul and Jurel need some playing time before entering the BGT. Rahul, however, has played three of the five home Test matches. Even though KL played the first test against New Zealand, the substitute keeper Jurel didn't get a chance since Rishabh Pant's comeback. At a post-match press conference of the third Test against New Zealand, captain Rohit Sharma said, "I think sometimes when you play that practice match, we are travelling with a squad of 19 players and only 3 days were a lot allotted to us. And I don’t know how much workload can we get done in those 3 days in terms of getting everyone prepared." Jasprit Bumrah to lead the BGT Rohit Sharma will be uncertain in the series opener due to some personal reasons. However, there is no official statement regarding his leave, but it will come out soon. In his absence, Jasprit Bumrah will lead the side for the 22nd November test.
