Venkatesh Iyer's rough patch continued in IPL 2025 as he had another poor outing. KKR spent a massive ₹23.75 crore to sign him at the auction and even made him vice-captain. But so far, the Madhya Pradesh all-rounder has not been able to live up to expectations. Kolkata Knight Riders went all out to bring Venkatesh back for their KKR team plans to bat with him as the third-most-paid player in the auction of 2025, but sadly the left-hander didn't turn for the biggest match-winning part. The only score of Iyer's during the IPL so far has been a lonely fifty against Sunrisers Hyderabad at Eden Gardens. He has played seven innings so far, scoring just 142 runs at a strike rate of 139.21 and an average of 20.28, not bowled a single over, and therefore, fairly limited in his role. After Ajinkya Rahane was out, he came into the match against Delhi Capitals. Yet he failed to capitalize on a great opportunity to face spinners from opposing left-arm Axar Patel, swinging wildly and offering a simple catch to Vipraj Nigam at cover. Their decision to invest 23.75 Crore for Venkatesh has brought opposite fortune. So far, he earned an average of 16.72 lakh rupees for every run scored. Iyer's woes are a shadow of KKR's current woes in IPL 2025. The defending champions have failed to find continuity, having lost 5 of their 9 games along with one washout against PBKS.
