The Kolkata Knight Riders are facing some serious concerns with their pace attack heading into Indian Premier League 2026. While KKR had some issues with their overseas fast bowlers even before, some new problems have cropped up with the domestic bowlers as well. Umran Malik, whom KKR bagged for INR 75 Lakhs before IPL 2025, has been going through a really poor run of form in DY Patil T20 Cup 2026. In the fixture against Mumbai Customs on February 25 playing for Tata Sports Club, the pacer from J&K conceded a remarkable 36 runs in a single over. The over began with a single, but what followed next was something the pacer would want to forget. The pacer was hit for a four on the second delivery, followed by a six on the no ball and a dot on the third ball. The next two deliveries went for a six and a four respectively. With just one ball to end the over, Umran bowled a wide, a no ball and a single on the same delivery, followed by a four on another no ball and a six on the final delivery. The pacer went for 36 runs in a single over, finishing the game with figures of 0/59 in just 2 overs, taking 0 wickets. In the previous game against DY Patil Red he took figures of 1/41 in 4 overs, which also contained a 27-run over during the powerplay. This type of run will concern Kolkata, who already look light in pace attack. India pacer Harshit Rana has a knee issue which has put him out as well. Due to lack of options KKR had hoped that Umran Malik would play a significant role and the way the bowler is performing, it is highly doubtful if he even features in the starting eleven. Apart from Umran, KKR haveVaibhav Arora, Akash Deep and Kartik Tyagi as their domestic fast bowlers and will be hoping that Umran finds his mojo back before the tournament begins. To date, Umran has played 26 matches in the IPL and all for Sunrisers Hyderabad taking 29 wickets, including two five wicket hauls and two four wicket hauls. Kolkata Knight Riders will have to keep a close eye on their speed department before IPL 2026 comes knocking.
