England are in the middle of a five-match T20I series in India. Jos Buttler's 20-over side has Harry Brook as deputy skipper. At Sunday, January 26, England were still trailing the series as they had lost the first couple of games by seven and two wickets respectively. Former English cricketer Kevin Pietersen recently took to social media to respond to a query placed by CricTracker, asking which cricketer is in the favourite minds of netizens at the moment. Pietersen, known widely for his abilities on the cricket field and light-hearted sense of humour off the field, came out and commented that Brook is his favourite cricketer. Yet, there seems to be something light-hearted playfully attached to Pietersen's post, that has been viral on social media. Brook's comments did not sit well with the Indian cricket fraternity for they thought he was trying to cover up his and his team's shortcomings against the Indian spinners. On both occasions on this India tour so far, mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy's deliveries tore through Brook's defence. After Brook was castled by a ripper from Chakravarthy at the MA Chidambaram Stadium yesterday, a lot of Indian cricket fans came forward and jokingly mocked Brook's comments after the series opener. Among them were former Indian cricketing legends, Ravi Shastri and Sunil Gavaskar, as well. Next three T20Is are set to be played in Rajkot, Pune, and Mumbai, respectively. The format changes to ODIs when both the sides fight out in a three-match series before heading over to Pakistan and United Arab Emirates for the Champions Trophy in the upcoming edition. Ahead of the series, not many people expected England to go down to India in the manner they went down in both the games up until now. Even though their show in yesterday's hard-fought contest was a much better spirited one, they have a mountain to climb to salvage anything from this series.
