Indian batter and the skipper of Vidarbha, Karun Nair, etched his names into the world record by scoring the most consecutive runs in List A cricket without being dismissed. He achieved this remarkable feat on 3rd January 2025, while playing against Uttar Pradesh in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Chasing 308, skipper Karun Nair played a splendid knock of 112 before being dismissed for the first time in five matches of this tournament. Opener Yash Rathod also hammered a ton to help his side chase this challenging total at Vizzy Stadium. During his innings, when Nair reached at the score of 70, he gathered a total of 500 runs without losing his wicket in List A cricket and he became the only Indian batter to do so. As he reached the score of 98, he surpassed the world record of 527 runs without being dismissed, which was created by New Zealand's James Franklin in 2010. Soon, he reached to his ton, the fourth in this tournament. So far in this Vijay Hazare Trophy, Karun Nair has played five matches. He scored unbeaten 112 against J&K, followed by 44*, 163*, 111* and 112 in the next four matches against Chhattisgarh, Chandigarh, Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh.
