Indian batsman Karun Nair lauded head coach Gautam Gambhir for providing the team solid encouragement and support throughout the five-Test England tour. The Anderson–Tendulkar series was a transitional one for India, currently under the leadership of Shubman Gill, as some veterans bid adieu to the red-ball format. Following its home defeat by a 3-0 whitewash at the hands of New Zealand that broke India's 12-year unbeaten record, and a 1-3 loss in the Border–Gavaskar Trophy in Australia after a decade, India hit back with a tough 2-2 draw in England. Nair revealed that right from the start, the team's concentration was on giving precedence to collective success and making a mark in a series win on English soil. He completed the series with 205 runs in eight games at a mean of 25.62, with only one fifty. Back in international cricket after eight years, Nair could not make the most of promising positions, unable to convert 30 and 40 something scores into big scores despite coming on the heels of a good domestic season. Here is what Nair told Revsportz: "The whole goal of the series was to do something special as a team. It was really inspiring to see this message coming from him from day one, and everyone really bought into it, which [everyone] must have noticed as the series progressed. Gauti bhai was someone who gave us a lot of encouragement and support. I can say for myself that he really gave me the confidence to go out there and give it my best. So, the whole focus was to go out there and play the way I know, to play for the team in any situation that I was in," Also Read | RCB Without Virat Kohli: What if He Retires Before IPL 2026? In the future, India's red-ball side will be welcoming the West Indies and South Africa for the impending home series. This is ahead of the Indian team's involvement in the 2025 Asia Cup, which will start on September 9 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) as a T20I format, as groundwork towards the future T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka. Nair's dream came true when his name was on India's playing XI for the series opener against England at Headingley. The 33-year-old experienced the adrenaline rush as the moment he always dreamed of was now his reality. Nair came back from England with 205 runs at an average of 25.62, including a crucial 57 in the first innings at The Oval.
