Karnataka government has attributed the fatal stampede at the entrance of M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on June 4, 2025, to Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). Eleven individuals lost their lives and many others got hurt during the rush of people at RCB's IPL 2025 win celebration. A report filed by the government with the Karnataka High Court on June 12, and subsequently released on July 8, said that RCB, along with DNA Entertainment and the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA), proceeded to celebrate without receiving police permission. The report stated: "Despite this, RCB went ahead with the celebration. The state government held the RCB, DNA, and Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) responsible for the "unauthorised" celebration." The report further stated: "These were arranged on police request, but RCB, DNA, and KSCA had not arranged any medical facilities." The court observed that the report had no need to be sealed and that it must be published. As per the report, police had refused permission for holding the event since they were not provided with sufficient information on crowd control and medical assistance. Such tweets were instrumental in drawing a huge audience, said the report. This brought even more crowds to the ground. Additional posts received enormous response as well, ranging from 426,000 to. 1.7 million. Even though the police refused permission, the online promotions continued unabated. The government also emphasized that RCB and its associates did not make suitable arrangements for medical assistance. The police had to intervene to arrange two ambulances, two medical teams, and a fire engine. It stated the franchise organized the event without necessary permits. Meanwhile, CAT reversed the suspension of senior IPS officer Vikash Kumar Vikash, who was blamed for the accident. The tribunal stated the primary fault was with RCB and not the officer.
