The Karnataka State Cricket Association has announced a 37-member probable list for the upcoming Ranji season. The probable lists included international star players like KL Rahul and Prasidh Krishna. Currently, KL Rahul and Prasidh Krishna are bound to the India A team, playingthe second unofficial Test that started today at the Ekana Stadium, Lucknow. Apart from KL and Prasidh, notable players like Devdutt Padikkal, Mayank Agarwal, Shreyas Gopal, India pacer Vyshak Vijayakumar, Vidwath Kaverappa, and R Smaran are also added to the squad. Mumbai Indians’ wicketkeeper-batter KL Shrijith is also in the announced list. Yash Goud, who had earlier played for Karnataka, will be coaching the team. He is currently with the India Under-19 team, which is playing a ODI series against Australia. The 2025-26 Ranji Trophy season will be starting on October 15. Karnataka has been placed in Group B, along with eight-time winner Saurashtra. Apart from the two, teams like Goa, Kerala, Maharashtra, Chandigarh, Madhya Pradesh, and Punjab are also in the team. Karnataka will be playing their first match of the season against Saurashtra. Joining him on the panel are former cricketers C. Raghu, Amit Verma, and Tejpal Kothari, who bring their experience from domestic cricket to the table. In a parallel development, Udit Patel, son of former India batter and current KSCA secretary Brijesh Patel, has been inducted into the junior selection panel. He will oversee selections for the Under-19, Under-16, and Under-14 squads. These appointments are expected to strengthen Karnataka’s talent scouting system and ensure a smoother pathway for promising youngsters to transition into senior cricket, maintaining the state’s reputation as a powerhouse in Indian domestic cricket.
