Afghan players have been the flavor of the IPL since a good part of a decade now. From the likes of Rashid Khan and Mohammad Nabi to the young sensation Noor Ahmad, the Afghans have lit up the tournament with their performances for various franchises. The latest addition to the list of Afghan players to feature in the IPL is the all-rounder Karim Janat who is all set to make his debut for Gujarat Titans against Rajasthan Royals at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur in Match 47 of IPL 2025. Janat was picked up by the GT franchise at the 2025 mega auction at a price of INR 75 Lakhs and is overall the fourth player from his country to represent the Titans in the IPL after Rashid Khan, Noor Ahmad and Azmatullah Omarzai. GT have been the flagbearers amongst all the franchises in handing Afghan players an IPL contract and have given out five of those out of whom only Rahmanullah Gurbaz did not get a chance to represent them in 2022 and later on went to make his debut with KKR in 2023. Received his debut cap from Rashid Bhai - a moment to cherish for Karim! 🥹🧢 pic.twitter.com/czknFJGqK9 — Gujarat Titans (@gujarat_titans) April 28, 2025 Full list of Afghan players to have played in the IPL Over the years, there have been several Afghan players who have plied their trade in the IPL starting with the maestro Rashid Khan back in 2017 who became the first ever Afghan player to feature in the IPL as he got a contract with the Sunrisers Hyderabad.
