The former Indian captain Kapil Dev seems to be tired with the handshake drama that has been going on since India faced Pakistan on September 14 in the 2025 Asia Cup. He not only termed it as a "personal" decision, but he also urged that Pakistan must look after their cricket before making a handshake denial a big issue.     Notably, Suryakumar Yadav, the Indian captain, refused to shake hands with the Pakistani captain, Salman Ali Agha, from the toss till India won the match. They not only walked away, leaving the Pak players stranded, but when the latter approached the Indian dressing room, the door was slammed on their face.   Since then, the Pakistan Cricket Board has been banging doors here and there trying to protect his image to the country, if not the team's. They even went to the extent of threatening to boycott the tournament if the match referee, Andy Pycroft, was not suspended.   Well, they will be playing India again on September 21, in the Super Four match. ICC meanwhile has now ordered PCB to gather enough evidence against Pycroft. The entire thing has no doubt been monotonous, with the board trying to protect dignity and not cricket. In such an environment, Kapil Dev said that Pakistan has their cricket to improve. Speaking to ANI he said,   “There are all small things. One should focus on playing cricket. If someone does not want to shake hands, there is no need to make a big issue out of it for both sides. It is not right to give wrong statements, but some cricketers give statements that become controversial. Pakistan did not play good cricket; they need to work on it. It is one's personal choice whether they want to shake hands or hug.”   Read also: Watch: Sanath Jayasuriya and co. consoles after informing Dunith Wellalage's father's death   Kapil Dev backed India team's performance   It's not that India has been winning a lot of ICC trophies unless they got the ICC T20 Men World Cup in 2024 followed by the Champions Trophy in 2024. However, Kapil Dev feels that the team is doing great in ICC tournaments. He said,   "The Indian team has been playing very well for the past 20 years. The team performs exceptionally well in ICC tournaments. Our cricket is very organised...I am hopeful that Team India will win the Asia Cup 2025."
