Kane Williamson, one of the members of 'Fab Four', once again proved his class in One-Day International (ODI) cricket leading New Zealand to victory against South Africa with 133 runs off 113 balls at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore. He smashed 13 fours and 2 sixes in his match-winning knock, despite long injury breaks but showed no signs of rust. He had earlier scored 58 against Pakistan in the opening match of the tri-series which serves as preparation for the 2025 Champions Trophy. The 34-year-old became the second fastest batter to score more than 7000 ODI runs. He achieved this feat in 159 ODI inning and broke Virat Kohli’s record of 161 innings. The only ahead of him in this list is the former South African great Hashim Amla. He did it in just 150 innings. AB de Villiers is also in the list at fourth spot with 166 innings, followed by Sourav Ganguly who reached the 7000-run mark in 174 ODI innings. In response, New Zealand started well scoring 50 runs in 10 overs, but lost and early wicket of Will Young. Williamson joined the party with Devon Conway, and they together added 187 runs in 155 balls for the second wicket. Conway lost his wicket at 97 off 107 balls, narrowly missing a century, while Williamson scored his hundred in 72 balls. New Zealand, however, faced a brief hiccup when Daryl Mitchell and Tom Latham departed on back-to-back deliveries in the 39th over but Williamson held his nerves with Glenn Phillips (28*) at the other end and they led New Zealand to a comfortable win with 8 balls to spare.
