On Day 3 of the 1st Test between New Zealand and England at the Hagley Oval in Christchurch, Kane Williamson achieved a unique feat, becoming the first Kiwi to achieve 9,000 Test runs. With that, he also became the third-fastest batter, alongside Sri Lanka's Kumar Sangakara and Pakistan's Younus Khan, to achieve 900 runs. Australia's Steve Smith tops the list as the fastest one to reach 9000 runs, while West India legend Brain Lara stands second in the list. Kane Williamson innings In the 18th over of the second inning, while Gus Atkinson was bowling, Williamson achieved the record, ornamented but a huge round of applause from the Hagley crowd. Williamson, along with Sangakara and Khan, has achieved the 9000 runs milestone in their 103rd Test. In the first inning, while the New Zealand batters were struggling, Williamson scored a brilliant 93 but missed his well-deserved century. He hit 10 fours in his knock, reaching his 36th Test half-century in style. Kane Williamson was coming back from his injury and has marked his arrival with his gritty 93. This was the first time since 2018 when Williamson fell short in his shaky nineties, failing to complete his hundred in Test cricket. In the second inning, he has already completed his 37th test half century but got lbw to Chris Wokes at 61. In the first inning, New Zealand scored 348 runs and is trailing by 18 runs, as England scored 499 runs in their first inning.
