Day 1 of the 1st Test between Bangladesh and South Africa at the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium in Dhaka on Monday, October 21, became a day of historic significance for Kagiso Rabada. He became the sixth South African bowler to grab 300 Test wickets. Stepping into the hall of greats from the likes of Dale Steyn, Shaun Pollock, Allan Donald, and most notably, perhaps his contemporary, Vernon Philander, this was an incredible feat for this incredibly talented young man. Rabada attained the milestone in his first spell, taking the wicket of former Bangladesh captain Mushfiqur Rahim for 11. He bowled a delivery which came back in and broke the stumps to dismiss Rahim. Thus, Rabada joined the ranks of South Africa's third quickest to 300 Test wickets after he surpassed this milestone on his 65th Test match. Only Steyn achieved it in his 61st Test and Donald, in his 63rd, were quicker. Rise of Kagiso Rabada in Test Cricket Rabada has been simply in a superb form as he picked eight wickets in two matches against the West Indies in August. He turned to be one of the best fast bowlers since his debut for the Test side against India in 2015. He had made a great start himself, especially when he took 13 wickets against England in 2016, making him the youngest South African to take ten wickets in a single Test match. Rabada concluded the 2018 season as the best Test bowler in the world and the youngest player to have taken 150 Test wickets. By the end of the year, he had taken the most wickets in Tests. He took 52 Test wickets within the year. He is an all-time threat to batsmen because of his ability to swing the ball both ways and hand out sharp bouncers.
