Archer had earlier prioritized his National side after recovering from a serious injury in recent times however, but he has reversed his decision of not participating in the league due to the new rules that BCCI brought this year for all the players ahead of the mega auction event. The new rule states that if any player chooses to skip the tournament then they will be banned from participating in the mini-auction for the next year as well. Reports suggest that the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) initially withheld No-Objection Certificates (NOCs) for fast bowlers Jofra Archer and Mark Wood, preventing them from participating in the IPL 2025 season. However, Archer eventually secured an NOC, allowing him to rejoin the pool for the much-awaited IPL mega auction. Jofra Archer was bought by the IPL franchise Mumbai Indians (MI) in the mega auction of IPL 2022 but he missed that season due to an injury. He returned back to the tournament for the franchise the next year but his performance was not up to his standards and he was ruled out from the mid-tournament after playing just 5 games for the team.
