In the latest development coming from England, the Three Lions have added their star pacer Jofra Archer to the squad, which will face India in the second Test match in Birmingham from July 2 to 6. The Sussex pacer will be returning to the England squad after a four-year hiatus. It is worth mentioning that Jofra Archer hasn’t replaced anyone in the squad, but he has been added as the 15th player and will be available for selection in the second Test match. He is set to join the pace bowling unit that comprises Sam Cook, Chris Woakes, Brydon Carse, and Josh Tongue. As quoted by ESPNcricinfo, Jofra Archer said: "It felt alright today. I've been playing for a year, and bowling for two years, including the build-up, so everything is fine.” He further added that: “Now it's a different challenge, because I know my body can hold up to it. The mental part of the game [will be tough]. Over the next couple of days, I'm going to have to battle a bit with it, but it's all good. It's a new challenge, and I'll keep trucking along.” It was not easy for Jofra Archer to return to the Test setup after four long years; he has battled difficult times recovering from his injuries. First, he was sidelined due to a recurring elbow injury, followed by a back stress fracture, which kept his participation in question. He recently made his return to the County Championship, joining his team Sussex against Durham, and bowled 18 overs and picked up 1 wicket for 32 runs in a drawn match. Jofra Archer, who made his Test debut against Australia in the Ashes in 2019, has featured in 13 Test matches till now and has taken 42 wickets to his name with three five-wicket hauls. It will be interesting to see if he gets an opportunity in the second Test match, if he does, then who he replaces in the playing XI.
